PR & SOCIAL MEDIA

Primarily working for the London-based PR firm Fetch Publicity, first as a freelancer and currently as a full time employee, I have worked on PR and Social Media campaigns for clients including Anime Limited, AMC Networks, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, StudioCanal, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

PR Campaigns

No matter how great a film is, it can't connect with people's hearts if there's no-one to make that introduction. It's an unfortunate fact, but also why I'm here.

I have managed PR campaigns for film releases across theatrical, home video and digital platforms. Each film is different, but I ensure that they receive the coverage and reach the audiences that they deserve.

My speciality is in Japanese anime, but I have worked across cult and genre films for clients including Altitude, Mediumrare Entertainment, StudioCanal, and more.

This includes maintaining relationships with both traditional and online press in order to generate effective coverage of our titles. Notable examples have included "GODZILLA MINUS ONE", and "ONE PIECE Film: Red" being the cover story of The Guardian's G2 Life & Art supplement (1st Nov 2022).

I have also co-ordinated with film talent and their representatives in order to organise media interviews, as well as supporting events including media screenings and premieres.

Social Media

I don't need to introduce you to social media - it's a big part of our lives, and how we reach people.

Guillermo del Toro once retweeted a lame joke that Shudder made about Mothra. That may not sound impressive at first glance, but think about how many of his 2.4M followers saw that tweet - and the brand that posted it. I didn't reach out and arrange it with his team, it just happened organically - and that's the real key to social media: being fun and authentic. People don't like brands being overly corporate or too try-hard - but they like a personality.

I have created social media campaigns and assets for individual release campaigns, as well as longer-term management of brand social media channels, with clients including Anime Limited, Shudder, and Funimation (now known as Crunchyroll).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I managed the social media channels for "Screen Anime", a temporary streaming service that provided a rotating library of anime films. This included spearheading the #ScreenAnimeParty initiative - weekly Twitter watch-a-longs that created a connected community during a time where people were kept apart due to lockdowns.

Consultancy

There are some things that only a fan would know. What series are people telling their friends to watch? What excites them about a home video release? Or, what film might they love if it's given a bit of extra love?

As part of my freelance work, I have helped to consult a major home entertainment distributor following their acquisition of a leading anime brand and catalogue.
